Some issues with this app: 1) It now hallucinates regularly (it will transcribe what I say, and will sometimes change it to what it thinks I meant rather than what I said); 2) It has difficulty with the word "though," and regularly writes "so" or "no" instead of "though"; 3) It sometimes does not transcribe words that I say; 4) It will randomly capitalize words, like it thinks I mean a proper noun (such as "Lowe's") rather than a regular noun (like "lows"). (I have others, but am out of space.)
Now this app only let me dictate two or three words before it stops. This first sentence took me five different times of hitting the microphone to get it to start so I can continue to dictate again. This is not just on one single device, but on both my phone and my tablet. Well here it is a year later and it's still doing exactly the same thing. Except for now it drops punctuation marks and words that were already there and changes words. It is time to change to another speak to text app.
The program just seems lazy to me, like I have been using the feature for generations worth of phones. This one seems to not recognize my speech pattern or even try. It just puts in the space what it thinks would sound right, which isn't what is being spoken. My speech also isn't broken and I don't have a distinct accent, so why isn't the program able to recognize me. This isn't that hard.
Went down hill. A couple of years ago this app worked far better than it does now. Now it gets words wrong a lot more often than it used to. They took away an extremely helpful feature where in the past you could touch a word and it would give you a list of alternative words to touch. Now it does not do that so I have to delete and type by hand which defeats the purpose. Especially since it's functionality is useful while driving. And often I cannot simply change one letter in a word.
I love this app, but this version is the absolute worst that you have come up with in years. It's hard to describe in detail in writing, but I keep speaking and it puts in the wrong words. And the older versions used to let me edit the incorrect word with typing, and this one will not let me do it. Please help troubleshoot one of the best apps in cell phones. Thank you
Speech-to-text is getting worse. It misunderstands words (I don't have an accent), auto capitalizes words mid-sentence, and replaces real words with celebrity names and musical groups. This results in needing to re-read and correct errors caused by speech recognition. It also has a VERY ANNOYING habit of turning the microphone off after the first word is written. Often I find myself having to repeat the same sentence twice because the microphone stopped working before my sentence was complete.
Really really frustrated with recent updates. The app has worked well for the most part. 4 last couple years but is now inserting periods and other punctuation points randomly as well as weird other characters and numbers. And leaves out words. Particularly when I attempt to use it. In text messaging. I am using Speech-to-Text now and I am choosing not to edit out. The issues so that someone Who can change this can fix it? Very soon. I hope.
Having the same problem as most. Constantly, non-stop, downloading. Says downloading English (us) update. It never finishes and I can't cancel. Very annoying. I went to just unistall speech services app altogether but when I did it seemed to mess with my fitbit that connected to this phone so I had to reinstall, and since I reinstalled, it's still Constantly trying to download. Would be 5 stars if not for that.
No longer does it try to update endlessly! However I too have the" oh,, bug I see mentioned elsewhere. I used to be fine, for the longest time, and then suddenly started doing it. Still, a functional app, as much as any speech to text functions can be. This review was written using text-to-speech only. All typos are the work of the speech services by Google, but it seems to be doing pretty good!
