One of those things that works so well, consistently reliable, and dependable, it integrates into your life to the point of never giving it a second thought until... It pops up out of the blue one day years later humbly requesting a rating... To which a natural bit of "knee jerk" initially thinks "seriously? Ur a phone, doing what phones do.. Like an arm or a leg doing what arms and legs do... And as that thought settles in, you the time you don't have and show some appreciation... GLADLY! (:
I don't understand why Call Screening is even there. Never has it EVER been used by the caller when I activate it. They just hang up every single time. It might be useful if we could change the greeting dialogue to something much shorter. By the time the caller listens to that long boring message they've fallen asleep.
Have cleared the cach and restarted my phone and deleted and reloaded the app with no change. it does not make any sound until about 20 seconds after an ourgoing call is initiated. Incoming calls don't display the green avswer button if an app is in use. Instead I have to close all apps to get to an answer position. it does not ring long enough to answer a call unless I have the phone in my hand . that could be down to supplier saving bandwidth.
There's something wrong with this app. During the call, when on speaker, I can't run any apps from home screen, nor can I access the app drawer. When I take it off the speaker then I everything works properly, but then of course screen goes black when I'm near proximity sensor, and of course I can't hear whoever I'm talking to that great. Google phone and Contacts are a bit of a mess. the duration of past phone calls is not easily apparent. there's also no way to tap a phone call and have it bring you to the contact or text that number. it also doesn't indicate whether the phone call was from a landline or a mobile number that you could text. these are obvious usability issues that have never been addressed in any way. contacts doesn't really play well with the phone function in this and other ways.
All of the features are great, but my absolute favorite has to be the voice screening virtual calling assistant. Since this is slightly new to most people, it normally comes across as a prank call, which is hilarious to have the transcript, and audio saved, and able to shared, which adds to the whole thing. Once the technology becomes more universal however, I think it could be used in many situations for actual proper use, but for now, it's a built in prank call 🤣
I lose about 40% of received calls if the phone is in landscape and I rotate it to portrait mode. The answer call button becomes unresponsive. See below. No recurrence since I cleared the app cache. I will be monitoring this going forward. Thank you, Google support!
