Duolingo is a great way to learn other languages. It especially helps if you're a competitive person due to the leaderboard system. I have never had to pay for anything. There are ways to overcome the limited mistakes with time, ads, and practicing, and for languages that have a special alphabet, you never need to use those hearts. It is a little bit slow paced at times, but it can still provide a decently quick learning progression. One change I'd like is to see tips again after closing them.
I still don't like the learning paths. You have no choice in your lesson, and because there's no pictures like before, you can't easily decide to revisit an old topic. Apart from that, the app is definitely getting better. I very much like the update on learning kanji. Instead of endlessly drawing the same strikes, you have to read and recognize it in different contexts.
They've recently started playing two ads in a row after completing a lesson. It used to be either one standard ad or an ad for their premium subscription. Now you get both with great frequency. Additionally, the practices are now providing way less variety, so I'm repeating the same material. Also, the text to speech they're using is starting to sound really rough after a recent change, which is distracting during lessons. I'd switch to Babbel but they don't have the language I'm working on.
I love Duolingo, but the app is just glitchy and causes unnecessary frustration. For example, if you finish a lesson at midnight it clears all your daily goals with no chests to open, or on the ramp up XP challenge it will randomly make me start at the beginning, even though I made it with time left, sometimes I open an early bird or night chest and no double XP! I wish it had more options to keep me involved, love the matching game, but it isn't always available; also miss stories.
1. I have only found one minor spelling mistake in last 3 months that I have used it. 2. Sometimes when I click on the widget, the app does not open, sometimes it does. You will need to fix that. 3.Apart from these, I cannot find any mistake or think of anything that could make this app better. You as the creator definitely will. 4. I have it in my Android phone and my iPad, and works well in both devices. Also syncs properly(but that is a given). 5. The variety of formats of questions 👌
Duolingo is a really great app. I'd been practicing Spanish for a couple of months and stopped, but then I realised that when I could hear a basic Spanish sentence I could comprehend it. I went back on the app to continue my lessons. The app is built and functions in a way that subconsciously and consciously helps you to absorb the language. It's challenging and it focuses on all aspects of language learning (Speaking, reading, writing, etc) and the rewards and challenges keep me on my toes!
Fantastic app and overall cause to help people learn a second (or even third!) language. Only problem is the harder it gets the more 'hearts' you need because of the higher chance of mistakes. You can practice to earn more hearts or wait for them to replenish, but it's a very long time and the practice runs can be longer than it takes for you to lose hearts again. It's a good penalty system but obviously leans into free users paying for the Super version.
Duolingo is a language learner's dream! It's intuitive, engaging, and well designed. The lessons are bite-sized, making it easy to fit into any schedule. Plus, the variety of languages offered is impressive. Whether you're a beginner or brushing up on skills, Duolingo's gamified approach makes learning fun and addictive. Kudos to the developers.
Really great overall! It's not a pay to win app! There is just a few things I'd like to suggest. 1 MAKE MUSIC AND MATH AVILABLE TO OTHER DEVICES THAN APPLE. I use Android, and I really want to do the music course, so it's a huge let down for me and many others. 2 I'm sure it would be convinent to pause 2X EXP potions, because I do a lesson before work, and get a boost, but then I can't use it because I'm busy. Otherwise it's a great app overall.
